OBElementary with tint2+conky by palobo OBElementary with tint2+conky by palobo
The idea is to achieve a lightweight system without compromising the elegant look I've become accustomed to with elementary.

GTK:[link]
Icons:[link]
Empathy Icons:[link]
OB Theme: A mod of mirhciulica's OB Theme [link]
Improved fluidity between OB theme e GTK theme. Reworked the menu to better reflect the colors used by original elementary theme. Improved behaviour of active/inactive buttons
Panel A mix of tint2 and conky drawing the panel graphics.

Included:

  • OB Theme

  • tint2 config

  • conky config and panel graphic

  • Original panel svg to customize size to best fit your screen resolution

Drawbacks
  • So far the only drawback I've found is the need to have xcompmgr or another compositing engine drawing some shadows otherwise there is a lack of contrast between apps (no border for fluidities sake...)

Don't forget to read the README included

As usual, all feedback is greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
PL

Looks really nice!
I have a problem, though: unless I followed the instructions, I can't manage to set panel background; only two vertical bars on the edges of the panel appear.

Thanks, glad you like it.

As far as your problem goes... Do you have conky configured with Imlib2 support? Do you have a dual screen setup?

Maybe a screenshot will help a little to understand what might be the problem.

First of all, I don't need conky, so I wonder if I can only use tint2 with that background image.

Second, I use conky from Arch Linux extra repo, I don't know if it's been built with Imlib2 support.

And here's the screenshot:

Thanks in advance :)

Hi.

First things firts. That I know of, there is still no way of using an image as a background for tint2, that is the reason why I use conky to draw the panel background.

Now from what I can see from your screenshot, conky is working just fine (but you can always check with conky -v and look for Imlib2). The reason seems to be the fact that tint2 isn't using true transparency. Do you have xcompmgr installed? Or some other compositing manager?

Cheers,
PL

I didn't have any comopositing manager installed. I've just tried xcommpmgr with no success.

Hmm... Strange indeed. Try something simple along the lines of xcompmgr -n. After that reload tint2.

Get back to meu with the results of that simples experiment.

Problem solved (it was related to xcompmgr configuration).

And thanks for your help ;)
